ABOUT US

OUR HISTORIC CHURCH BUILDING WAS BUILT IN 1812
and was CONSECRATED SEPTEMBER 1817

We Seek to share the light of the world

Our Core Values:

JESUS IS HEAD OF OUR CHURCH
We value the Lordship of Jesus Christ, His leadership as the head of the church and the author our salvation, thus we seek to follow His will.  Colossians 2:9; Acts 2:36; and Ephesians 1:22-23- He has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

UNCONDITIONALLY LOVED (Agape)
We value Jesus’ unconditional and inseparable love for us and we strive to love others as Jesus loves.
Colossians 2:9; Acts 2: 36; Ephesians 1.22; and
John 13: 34-35- I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

INSPIRED BY THE WORD OF GOD
We value the Word of God, Jesus Christ, who is the Word made flesh (John 1: 14) and we value
the Scriptures of the Old & New Testaments, through which God speaks to us today.
2 Timothy 3: 16-7: All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.

EMPOWERED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
We value the work of the Holy Spirit, which unites us with the whole body of Christian believers and empowers us in our ministry and mission. Isaiah 61.1; Luke 11.13; Acts 2:17; and
John 16.13- When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

JOYFULLY WORSHIPING
We value Spirit-inspired worship where we express our love to God though weekly celebrations of the Eucharist, traditional hymns, contemporary praise music and heartfelt prayer. John 4:2; Matthew 26:26-28; and Psalm 100:1-2- Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come into his presence with singing.

AS PART OF THE ONE HOLY, CATHOLIC, AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH
Inspired by the Nicene Creed, we value our heritage as the successors of the apostles, through our membership in the world-wide Anglican Communion, the Episcopal Church USA, and the Episcopal Diocese in CT (ECCT). Romans 1.5 and Ephesians 2:20-You are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.
